Mensaje del Secretariado General de la ONU sobre el Día Internacional de las Personas con Discapacid
Transformación hacia una sociedad sostenible y resiliente para todos
La resiliencia es fundamental para lograr el desarrollo sostenible. En su promesa de no dejar a nadie atrás, la Agenda 2030 representa un compromiso para desarrollar las capacidades de aquellos que enfrentan la marginación y la exclusión, a fin de reducir su vulnerabilidad a las crisis económicas, sociales y ambientales.
En los últimos años, la comunidad internacional ha logrado avances notables en la promoción de los derechos de los mil millones de personas con discapacidad del mundo. La discapacidad se reconoce como un tema transversal en la Agenda 2030, la Nueva Agenda Urbana y el Marco de Sendai para la Reducción del Riesgo de Desastres.
Sin embargo, las personas con discapacidad a menudo quedan excluidas del diseño, la planificación y la implementación de políticas y programas que tienen un impacto en sus vidas. Con demasiada frecuencia enfrentan discriminación en los mercados laborales y en el acceso a la educación y otros servicios.
Para superar este desafío, el camino hacia instalaciones, tecnologías, infraestructura, servicios y productos inclusivos, accesibles y utilizables debe estar garantizado por, para y con las personas con discapacidad. Debemos construir sobre su futuro, trabajando juntos para diseñar, desarrollar e implementar soluciones asequibles e innovadoras para lograr la igualdad para todos.
En el Día Internacional de las Personas con Discapacidad, eliminemos las barreras físicas y culturales, construyamos sociedades resilientes y creemos oportunidades que realmente no dejen a nadie atrás.
