Sancionada nueva ley de cuidadores en Colombia
El pasado mes de Junio el presidente Gustavo Petro sancionó la Ley 2297 cuyo objeto es "establecer medidas efectivas para garantizar el acceso al servicio de cuidador o asistencia personal de las personas con discapacidad que así lo requieran, respetando sus preferencias, de acuerdo a un enfoque de derechos humanos, autonomía y capacidad legal de las personas con discapacidad."
Adicionalmente, disponer medidas de acompañamiento a las familias de personas con discapacidad, incentivar su formación, acceso al empleo, emprendimiento, generación de ingresos y atención en salud, y dictar otras disposiciones.
Así mismo el Ministerio de Protección Social establecerá un registro para identificar a las personas que fungen como cuidadores, para así entregar los beneficios que exige la ley para estas personas, cuyos datos a tener en cuenta son ubicación, tipo y grado de discapacidad, perfil profesional, experiencia y condiciones económicas. Es importante destacar que, aunque la Ley 2297 ya ha sido sancionada, aún no se encuentra reglamentada. El gobierno nacional cuenta con un plazo de un año, a partir de la fecha de sanción, para llevar a cabo esta reglamentación. Dentro de las disposiciones establecidas por la ley, se destaca la importancia de establecer criterios de caracterización de los cuidadores o asistentes personales de personas con discapacidad.
