Dic 3 Día de las personas con discapacidad: “Unidos para rescatar los ODS
“Unidos en la acción para rescatar y lograr los ODS para, con y por las personas con discapacidad” es el tema del día Internacional en 2023 seleccionado por las Naciones Unidas.
Dadas las múltiples crisis del mundo actual, el logro de los ODS está en peligro. A mitad del período de implementación de la Agenda 2030, el mundo no está en camino de alcanzar numerosas metas de los ODS para 2030. Para muchos, el progreso se ha estancado o ha retrocedido por debajo del punto de referencia de 2015.
Lamentablemente, los más pobres y vulnerables del mundo suelen ser los más afectados en tiempos de crisis. Las conclusiones preliminares del próximo Informe de las Naciones Unidas sobre Discapacidad y Desarrollo 2023 indican que el mundo está aún más lejos de cumplir varios ODS para las personas con discapacidad.
Nuestros esfuerzos para rescatar los ODS para, con y por las personas con discapacidad deben intensificarse y acelerarse, dado que las personas con discapacidad históricamente han sido marginadas y, a menudo, han estado entre las más rezagadas.
Es fundamental un cambio fundamental en el compromiso, la solidaridad, la financiación y la acción. Una parte integral de esto es la inclusión de las voces, necesidades y prioridades de la comunidad global de personas con discapacidad en toda su diversidad.
Es alentador que, con la adopción de la Declaración Política de la reciente Cumbre de los ODS, los líderes mundiales se hayan vuelto a comprometer a lograr el desarrollo sostenible y la prosperidad compartida para todos, centrándose en políticas y acciones dirigidas a los más pobres y vulnerables, incluidas las personas con discapacidad.
Esto exige esfuerzos revitalizados por parte de los Estados Miembros, el sistema de las Naciones Unidas, la sociedad civil y la comunidad mundial de personas con discapacidad, a través de acciones mejoradas y cooperación internacional, para hacer de los ODS una realidad para, con y por las personas con discapacidad.
